In preparation for the Goodman’s upcoming production of the classic Leonard Bernstein musical Wonderful Town, lead actors Lauren Molina and Bri Sudia headed to Paul Elledge’s Photography Studio to pose for the show’s signature image. Lauren and Bri play sisters Eileen and Ruth Sherwood, who leave Columbus, Ohio in the hopes of making it big in 1950s New York City.

We’re going behind-the-scenes of the #WonderfulTown signature image photo shoot today. Lead actors Lauren Molina (@lomo212) and Bri Sudia (@sususudia) who play Ohio-born sisters Eileen and Ruth Sherwood, are here at Paul Elledge’s Studio (@paul_elledge_133racing) to help bring Goodman Creative Director Kelly Rickert’s vision to life. This is the original 1953 artwork for the musical. At the end of today’s shoot, we’ll have brand-new signature art to share for the show.
Lauren Molina (@lomo212) returns to the Goodman for #WonderfulTown where she previously appeared in our 2010 production of Bernstein’s operetta CANDIDE in the leading role of Cunegonde. Lauren is a New York-based actor, and she’s half of @theskivviesnyc, a comedy-pop duo that performs a mix of pop hits and show tunes—while wearing just their underwear! Bri Sudia (@sususudia) reviews a mock-up of the signature image with photographer Paul Elledge and Goodman Creative Director Kelly Rickert. Bri is a local Chicago actor making her Goodman debut in the role of Ruth! Though this is Bri’s first time at the Goodman, she’s no stranger to Chicago musicals. She recently performed in Porchlight Music Theatre’s spring production of FAR FROM HEAVEN (written by the same composer-lyricist team as WAR PAINT). #WonderfulTown
Photographer Paul Elledge sets up the shot with Lauren and Bri. In addition to being triple-threats, Lauren and Bri have many other talents! Lauren plays the cello and many other instruments—she played Johanna AND also the cello in the 2005 Broadway revival of SWEENEY TODD. Bri plays the flute and did so in Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s 2014 production! She is also fluent in American Sign Language. #WonderfulTown A photo posted by Goodman Theatre (@goodmantheatre) on
Doing the #WonderfulTown twist! Lauren’s movements will help capture the fullness of her retro 1950s skirt in the final image! Bri and Lauren are capturing the wide-eyed wonder of the Sherwood sisters, who come to NYC hoping to make it big in #WonderfulTown! A video posted by Goodman Theatre (@goodmantheatre) on
